Welcome to the Inspire Conference 2006

This national conference is built on themes of celebration as well as challenge for creating a new vision of information access and democracy in the UK. It offers the opportunity to hear about the achievements of UK libraries in fulfilling the commitment to provide a cross-sectoral pathway for learners, aspiring learners and researchers to the rich resources of the nation's library and information services and collections. We will also be using the day to set the scene for aspiring to further achievements as Inspire becomes an embedded part of the information landscape.

We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be Phil Hope MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Skills at the DfES, who holds an impressive track record of commitment to learning and to supporting the role of libraries. We welcome a wide range of presenters who represent the breadth of Inspire activities in different sectors and parts of the UK and who have extended the ideas behind opening up access to libraries in new and exciting levels.

We will also be launching Find it! the public website, which will underpin the Inspire service by providing a single unified source of information on resources in libraries from all sectors right across the country.
