Terms of Reference

The Committee will provide a forum for discussion and a focus for action for the management, training and development of all staff working in university and national libraries by:

  1. Promoting awareness of good practice and innovation in the management and development of staff.
  2. Monitoring recruitment, reward, appraisal and development schemes staffing structures and other staffing issues in SCONUL institutions and sharing this information amongst SCONUL members.
  3. Promoting initiatives which facilitate developments in management, training and development amongst SCONUL members, nationally and regionally, including, for example:
    • the Staff Development Award
    • exchange of experience sessions
    • events for trainers
    • encouraging and developing common interests groups
    • promoting publications
  4. Collaborating in joint developments with national bodies involved in staff management and development such as UCoSDA, LAPTEG, BAILER, etc.
  5. Advising SCONUL and its Executive on staff management and development policies, strategies and projects.
