RIN Working Group on Information Handling skills [2009/10]

Members of WGIL (Alison McKenzie, Wendy White and Moira Bent) are participating in this RIN advocacy group, which has formulated a response to the Vitae Researcher Development Framework.

Supporting researchers: Good practice case studies [2009/10]

WGIL members are engaged in writing and sourcing case studies of good practice which will be mapped to the RDF and submitted to Vitae's Database of Practice. You are invited to contact any member of the group with examples of Information Literacy support for researchers.

Expanding the Seven Pillars model [2010]

Work is ongoing to develop the Seven Pillars model of Information Literacy to make it more appropriate for supporting researchers, mapping on to the RDF.

Measuring the Impact of the Seven Pillars model [2010]

Data is being gathered on uses of the 7 pillars model in order to assess its value and impact. You are invited to contact any member of the group with examples of uses of the Seven Pillars model.

Underpinning action plan

The work of the group is underpinned by the following:

  1. Work on the development of appropriate position statements on information literacy and learning
  2. Update, amend and promote the Seven Pillars model of IL as appropriate
  3. Develop research-level awareness and understanding of Information Literacy
  4. Develop links with European Higher Education organisations
  5. Further develop links with the Higher Education Academy
  6. Articulate relationships between IL and new social networking/e-Learning technologies
  7. Collaborate with the CILIP ILG group
