SCONUL annual residential conference, Hilton Hotel, Cardiff, 8 to 10 June 2011

SCONUL's annual residential conference "Planning for the future" will feature a variety of perspectives from outside the library world, focussing on the financial issues faced by universities; technological trends which could change the way that libraries deliver services; and about the library of the future (which may or may not have a physical form). On the first day there will be a panel discussion on the impact of student fees chaired by David Walker, The Guardian.

The programme will feature keynote speakers addressing these themes, namely Dr Carole Tenopir, Professor of Information Sciences, Director of Research for the College of Communication and Information, and Director of the Centre for Information and Communication Studies, University of Tennessee, Professor Steve Smith, Vice-Chancellor, University of Exeter and President of Universities UK, Professor Stefan Gradmann, Professor for Library and Information Science, Humboldt University, Berlin, Nick Poole, Chief Executive, Collections Trust.
