Libraries are now as much about connecting their users with content as they are about curating it.  In this session we shall hear about the innovative approach to discovery taken at Utrecht University Library, a Library which does not promote a traditional library catalogue or discovery layer.  The session will also explore the wider discovery landscape, in particular in relation to user workflows and the open access information ecosystem.

Considerations will include:

  • What are the alternatives to traditional library catalogues and discovery layers?
  • How do users respond to these alternatives?
  • What difference does open access make to the discovery landscape?

Speakers:

  • Martine Pronk from University of Utrecht
  • Andrea Chiarelli from Research Consulting

This event is part of the Libraries After Lockdown virtual collaboration and open to all staff at SCONUL member institutions.  For details on how to register e-mail sconul@sconul.ac.uk
