SCONUL seminar on KUALI open library system (OLE) highlights growing interest in open source library systems.
SCONUL held a seminar yesterday on the KUALI open library system (OLE), an open source library management system being developed in the US. The Bloomsbury group of libraries has announced that its members have agreed in principle to adopt the KUALI OLE system.
Robert McDonald, Associate Dean of IU Libraries at Indiana University, gave a presentation setting out the history, governance and structure of the system, while Suzanne Enright, Director of Information Services at the University of Westminster, talked about the development of community owned library systems in the UK.
Panel speakers include Brenda Johnson, Dean of University Libraries at Indiana University; Liam Earney, Project Director of KB+ and John Robinson, Director of Library and Information Services, SOAS.
