Investors in People

Investors in People is a standard focussed on improving the performance of an organisation though effective management and development of its people. A number of College, National or University libraries have already been accredited with Investors in People.

The Investors in People Standard is a business improvement tool designed to advance an organisation's performance through its people. Developed in 1990 by a partnership of leading businesses and national organisations, the Standard provides a framework for organisations to improve performance and realise objectives through the effective management and development of their people.

The standard evaluates the library’s (or parent institution’s) performance in three key areas:

  1. Developing strategies to improve the performance of the organisation
  2. Taking action to improve the performance of the organisation
  3. Evaluating the impact on the performance of the organisation

The practical benefits of working towards and achieving the Standard could include:

  • Improved Productivity
