Venue Description Time

Clifford Whitworth Library, University of Salford

Salford, M5 4WT

Clifford Whitworth Library underwent a significant £6.2 million Library Development Project that concluded in 2018.

The Library now has 250 more study spaces, 75 more PCs and ten more study rooms than before. As well as adding more facilities, the uplift has transformed the look and feel of the library providing a mixture of comfy and formal furniture, improved lighting, and plenty of great views over the newly-developed campus. The design celebrated the library’s central position in the park by bringing the outside inside with deckchairs, green carpets and pavilions.

Art from our students celebrating the connection between ourselves and Peel Park can also be found across the library.  Our Students have also helped create the Environment the Library provides and we have adopted a more ‘learning commons’ type approach to provide enough facilities in one building that accommodates all students types of studying preferences.

The tour will take delegates around each of the floors, explain their use and signpost particular facilities that may be of interest.

14:00 – 15:00

Meeting point: As you enter the library on the ground floor, there is an enquiry desk to the right. Just in front of that is a table with couches and newspapers, your tour guide Sara will meet you there.
