SCONUL Membership

Return to About Sconul

SCONUL has 190  members for which the organisation provides a range of services and support. We act on behalf of members where collective action is more efficient or effective than members acting alone. This includes

  • managing a reciprocal access scheme which allows students from one member institution to access the library of another
  • representing the interests of academic libraries to government, regulators and stakeholders in SCONUL’s own nations and regions, Europe and beyond
  • collecting and publishing statistics from our member libraries, enabling benchmarking and other comparative analysis

Other benefits of membership are:

  • providing members with intelligence on emerging trends in issues of concern to academic libraries
  • facilitating the sharing of best practice between members through including through seminars and conferences
  • brokering and supporting the development of new shared services
